Around the Region

We've broken Division III football down into seven regions to enhance our coverage of regional stories. Our regional columnists will file weekly columns covering their part of the country. Here's how they break down:
Northeast: NEFC, NESCAC
East: ACFC, E8, LL, NJAC
Mid-Atlantic: Centennial, MAC, ODAC, USAC
Great Lakes: MIAA, NCAC, OAC, PAC
South: ASC, SCAC
Midwest: CCIW, HCAC, IBC, MWC
West: IIAC, MIAC, NWC, SCIAC, WIAC

Each column will also cover independents in their part of the country, as well as teams from multi-region conferences. The most recent submission from each columnist is below:

EastTaking a moment to defend the East (Nov 13)
Merely two days after the NCAA playoff bracket were revealed, and with the committee moving the defending national champion Mount Union into the East bracket, many feel that because MUC dominated to a level this season that hasn’t been seen in college football for a...

SouthTexas twosome meets again (Nov 13)
For the fifth time in seven years, Mary Hardin-Baylor and Trinity do battle in the first round of the playoffs. Once we saw Trinity beat Millsaps, we all knew this was coming. No real surprises here. What does surprise me, though, is...

Great LakesCase linebacker helps brew turnaround (Nov 13)
Just one spark is needed to start a fire. In terms of athletics, a touchdown-saving tackle, big special teams play or effort and intensity to improve can give a team more energy in competition. For the Case Western Reserve Spartans, a decision made by one player...

Mid-AtlanticCan our four stay afloat? (Nov 13)
I suppose it’s appropriate to put them to rest -- our expectations, that is. Because from here to Salem, our notions of how games should play out are going to be just as challenged as they were in the regular season. The Centennial Conference emerged as...
