Willamette Head Coach Mark Speckman’s success has recently drawn attention from student papers on Division I campuses. The Stanford Daily recently ran this feature story which was then rerun in the University of Illinois’ student publication.

Having the chance to speak with Coach Speckman on a number of times, I can tell you that he is a class guy all the way and he runs a first rate football program.

Ive known Mark since the mid 70’s (I was a ball boy when he went to Menlo College and he was one of my coaches in high school) and have even lost to him in tennis and “HORSE”. He has always been a class act and a great guy. If my boys (1 1/2 and 4) decided they wanted toplay football, I would want to make sure that their coach was like Mark.
