Former CNU player now ‘Idol’

Chris Richardson, a former Christopher Newport football player, is one of the final 20 contestants on “American Idol.” The popular Fox network show is in its sixth season.
The 22-year old from Chesapeake, Va., auditioned in New York City.
Richardson, who played his freshman year, was listed as a 6-foot-2, 210-pound running back on their 2002 roster. He played in eight games, carrying the ball four times for five yards. Richardson also had one catch for two yards.
“American Idol” resumes tonight, Wednesday and Thursday, at 8:00 p.m. ET on Fox.
