JohnnyMac, no problem. That the other coaches thought our once-proud program was STILL sliding makes the rebound all that much nicer!

Keith, certainly early on, that was the view (by me, as well). Our offensive line has 3 freshmen and a sophomore, and the sophomore qb wasn’t even the starter at the beginning of the season. Sneaking up on people has been our secret weapon, but I guess our cover is blown! While I’m optimistic, Wheaton would still have to be considered at least a slight favorite. But this is NOT the team that began the season 1-2.

You’re right. Last week’s unexpected result threw that out of whack. Each already has one loss and either Wheaton or IWU must lose tomorrow.

I got the sense, though, at least a couple weeks ago, that people thought Wheaton would roll IWU. That’s for titanq.

Alum, I let people know where my rivalry stood in ATN this week. I have oft considered it fourth-best. It’s got more on the line this year than any of the others, so that’s great, but it’s the first time in 14 years they can say that, so objectively, that has to count for something.

A minor error in John’s pick for ’surprisingly close game’ that Q didn’t mention: IWU was picked for SEVENTH (not sixth) in the coaches’ poll – makes their season even a tad sweeter!

Keith, the CCIW cannot end in a three-way tie for first. If NCC falls to a 3-way tie, it will be by losing to Carthage and tying them and the loser of IWU-Wheaton for second (the winner being solo champ). If NCC wins they will be two-way co-champs with the winner of IWU-Wheaton.

As always, a great job in identifying the intense rivalries in the final week of the regular season. In my mind, the HDNet (Mark Cuban) broadcast of the Monon Bell game speaks volume to its national appeal.

I disclose that this comes from an Illinois Wesleyan alum, but I’m surprised to see Wheaton @ IWU listed as a “surprinsingly close game.” Seems like the consensus from IWU and Wheaton fans on the CCIW board was that the spread should be about Wheaton -3.

* Both teams are 5-1 in the CCIW
* The game is @ IWU
* Last year, or the last 5 years for that matter, really doesn’t have anything to do with tomorrow.

Wheaton may win by 30 for all I know, but coming in, I believe everyone in the CCIW expects this to be close.

Surprised K-Mack didn’t take his own rivalry as the biggest little game. Ehh, not really, perhaps, but it looks like a pretty good game this season anyway.

I wonder if Curry even makes the playoffs if they lose this week. Anyone?
