I’m rooting for Springfield this week, then Utica next week.
If Fish can beat Alfred (which is always a tough team) then we share the E8 title owning the tie break with Ithaca. .

I am looking at the strength of schedule and Elmhurst’s and Wheaton’s don’t make sense to me. Is there a specific formula they use to figure these out? I wonder if I am doing it wrong—Wheaton’s opponents are 42-38 I believe that comes out to .525. They have Wheaton @ .568. Elmhurst’s opponents are .481 38-41 and they have them at .462 Help!

Two things at work: remember, as it says at the top of the page, it’s just regional games being counted. That means you need the regional record of Elmhurst’s regional opponents.
Also, remember to remove Elmhurst’s games against the teams from the equation.

Pat and Keith:
Nice ATN podcast, as always! I look forward to the recap each week. Wesley is a very good team. This team, in my opinion, is better than the two that went to the DIII semifinal games. They are very dangerous now that they have a quarterback who has so many gifts. The fact that he can run the ball with the best of them gives Wesley an aspect to their attack they have not had in previous seasons. Had they started the season with the new quarterback they would be undefeated and probably number two in the nation. It is funny to hear from you guys that if Wesley would have lost the Salisbury game they were out but yet in your podcast you said Salisbury is still in the mix. I must be missing something. Keep up the good work!

Thanks Pat. A few more questions:
1. Since Elmhurst has not played Millikin or North Central, does that mean that their records don’t get counted yet on Elmhurst’s Opp winning %?
2. Also, it seems to me that Wheaton’s regional record is not accurate because they played Bethel, a west region team. This would put Wheaton’s regional record at 5-2. It would also put Augie at 5-1 because they played Platteville, a west region team.
November 4th, 2008 at 9:34 pm
Oops! Augie would be at 6-1 not 5-1
November 4th, 2008 at 9:36 pm
No, those are regional games. The definition changed:

Indeed, the numbers only count games already played.

pipearcher, as much as i would like to see wesley ranked #2 and undefeated, i have to disagree with your take on the delval game. the qb situation had nothing to do with the loss. as far as the new qb being more effective than the old one, that is also debatable when you compare the stats from last year to this year. one other thing to take into consideration is that wesley played a much tougher schedule last year than this year. i understand the excitement about a qb who can run and avoid sacks, but that is not the only way to play the position. since i have seen all the games this year, i am not sure which game wesley would not have won had they stuck with the old qb.

Once again, nice job on the pod cast. And, I rest my case re: my comment (compliments) to the two of you last week. NCAA should not be making mistakes like the one you reported. I highly doubt you would do such a thing. Keep up the good work!! Go Hobart!!
