So… if SJF beats Alfred on Saturday and earns the automatic E8 bid… does Ithaca get an at large bid if they beat Cortland? I would assume so.. .but stranger things have happened.

I agree w/your assessment of SJF Keith. Despite the losses and their lack of ranking, SJF can beat anyone in the East and I look to them to beat Alfred on Saturday. However, it’s November and anything can happen. If SJF gets in, they may go deep into the playoffs.

Are we gonna see another “Texas Death Match”?

Pool C Redlands vs Oxy for a re-match?

Even Northwestern MN vs the Tommies and Huntingdon/LaGrange (Little SEC) for some Pool B intrigue. Does Northwestern MN really have a chance at Pool B with a win over a MIAC club with a good OWP/OOWP?

Good stuff for the podcast. Will listen in the AM!

I organized it like this:

Title games:
MIAC — Carleton (5-2) at SJU (5-2) for the outright title and Pool A bid.
NATHC — Aurora (6-0) hosts Lakeland (5-1) for the Pool A bid.
NEFC — Plymouth State at Maine Maritime in the NEFC Bowl.
USASouth — CNU (6-0) hosts Ferrum (5-1) for the AQ.

(Also SLIAC, UAA in Pool B)

One team can clinch, if not the other wins:
E8 — SJF (4-1) must beat Alfred (3-2) to get the co-championship and the Pool A bid over Ithaca (5-1) which plays Cortland St.

LL — Hobart (5-1) must beat Rochester (3-3) to clinch the AQ. RPI (5-1) earns a co-championship with a win over Merchant Marine (1-5).

You’re cuttin’ in on my turf, brother!

We discuss the playoff picture in far more confusing fashion on the podcast (hey, we were just sorting it all out ourselves at that point) and I had planned to do the same in ATN. But maybe by Weds. it’ll be old news.

I love that SJF is in the mix; I think playing MUC, Salisbury, Hartwick, Alfred and Ithaca — that’s five teams that might be better than (or awful close to) the best team a couple of teams that will make the field have played.

That is why the AQ works!

Even with all of the losses, SJF still has a way to get to the playoffs.

This should be a permanent reminder to those detractors who lament the “best 32″ teams not making the playoffs. SJF still has a legitimate chance, just as Millsaps did in 2006 when they started out 0-4.
