Big names are out
The 2003 champ is out. The 2004 national runner-up is out. Last year's East finalists will meet again. It's an All-OAC final in the North, and No. 1 will host No. 2 for the West final. Rowan edged Union despite losing Ulysses Encarnacion to a serious injury in the first half. Nadyr Albri had 37 carries for 149 yards in relief for the Profs in a 28-24 win at Union. All 35 points and nearly 400 yards of total offense came in the fourth quarter as Delaware Valley outlasted Hobart 21-14. Hobart's shot from the 18-yard line in the closing seconds fell incomplete. With all-conference running back Aaron Robinson sidelined with a hamstring injury, Mount Union freshman Nate Kmic carried 37 times for a school-record 361 yards and four TDs as the Purple Raiders advance with a 44-7 win against Augustana. They'll host OAC rival Capital, which was a 14-11 winner at Wabash after intercepting Russ Harbaugh in the end zone in the closing minutes. Wesley made the Cinderella predictions come true with a 46-36 win at Mary Hardin-Baylor. The Wolverines will host Bridgewater (winners at Thiel) in the South final. St. John's couldn't hold onto the football, and when the Johnnies had it, Whitewater's defense made plays. The Johnnies lost seven fumbles and threw an interception as the Warhawks rolled 34-7. They'll travel to No. 1 Linfield, which rallied to win after trailing 14-7 at the half. Saturday's schedule and results, including game stories. | |
