Dubuque got just 64 of its 373 total yards after halftime, but it was enough for the Spartans' 18-0 to hold up in an 18-13 win against Augustana. McMurry, which opens the season with back-to-back Division I FCS opponents, got crushed by the first, 82-6 against Stephen F. Austin.
On Friday night, Adrian's long trip to Maine was a fruitful one, as the Bulldogs rolled over Husson 77-7. Adrian put up 667 yards of total offense, as Brandon Miller threw four touchdown passes, Aaron Tenney threw two more and Ce'Juwon McFerrin ran for three scores in the win. Westfield State blocked a Nichols extra point to preserve a 21-20 victory. Nichols had put itself in position to tie when Peter Curto ran back a fumble 94 yards for a touchdown.
