Trinity coach to miss Saturday's game
Bob King, athletic director at Trinity (Texas), has announced
that defensive coordinator Jim Dawson will serve as the acting head
coach for the Tiger football team this weekend at LaGrange.
Coach Steve Mohr developed a pulmonary infection over the weekend,
which will preclude him from traveling with the team. He is
expected to make a full recovery, and it is not expected to miss
any more games.
“With Steve not being well enough to take the road trip this
weekend, it became necessary to clarify the football team’s
leadership by asking Jim Dawson to be the acting head coach for the
time being,” explained King. “We expect Steve to
benefit greatly from the rest and medical care he is receiving, and
we know he is anxious to return to the sidelines as soon as he is
well.”
Dawson has extensive football experience at both high school and
collegiate levels, and is in his first season as Trinity’s
defensive coordinator, though he also served as the defensive backs
coach for the Tigers in 2009.
