Mary Hardin-Baylor's groundbreaking
Mary Hardin-Baylor broke ground on a brand-new stadium announced last year, while McDaniel is building a new grandstand and press box on the same historic site it has played on for decades.

On Friday, Feb. 3, McDaniel and Mary Hardin-Baylor each held groundbreaking ceremonies to kick off major stadium construction projects. For McDaniel, it's a new stadium built on the same site where the Green Terror have been playing football for 80 years. For Mary Hardin-Baylor, it signifies a new stadium and student union, bringing football on campus for the first time.

Mary Hardin-Baylor has been playing home games at Belton High School, near campus.

“Our football program has a proud past and enthusiastic goals for the future, but there has been one thing missing: a home stadium to call our own,” school president Randy O’Rear said. “Today we begin a new chapter in the history of Cru football.”

McDaniel's stadium will retain its hallmark bowl setting and tradition of drive-in tailgating while increasing seating capacity. The multi-million dollar project includes a two-story brick and concrete stadium to be built on the site of the current grandstand. Features are concessions, public restrooms, coaches, observation boxes, a large press box, filming areas, additional seating, home and visiting team meeting rooms, and a reception and gathering room.

Mary Hardin-Baylor's new 10,000 capacity stadium and student union building will be built near the center of the campus, adjacent to the Mayborn Center. By locating the complex near the school's arena and nearby intramural fields, the university will create a “student activity zone” surrounded by student residence halls and apartments.
