Mississippi College's Jake Allen Signs with Packers
Apr 28, 2008
Press Release posted by Mississippi College
Mississippi College wide receiver Jake Allen will get a shot at the National Football League next season after signing a free agent contract last night with the Green Bay Packers. The Packers will fly Allen to Green Bay later this week for rookie orientation as the All-American wide receiver begins his professional career.

"I can't tell you how excited I am to get this chance", said Allen. "It's a long way from home, but that's not a concern right now. I have an opportunity to prove that I belong there and I'm gonna make the most of it."

Allen finished his career with the Choctaws as the career leader in pass receptions, receiving yards, and touchdown receptions. In 2007, the Shubuta, MS native caught 61 passes for 1,254 yards and 12 touchdowns as he earned First Team All-America honors from D3football.com and the American Football Coaches Association.

"We are obviously thrilled for Jake that he will get an opportunity to play at the highest level", said MC Head Coach Norman Joseph. "He was a huge boost to our football program and we appreciate all he did for us. I'm just proud to see him get a shot at the NFL. He will be successful."

Allen received free agent contract offers from multiple NFL teams.
