SUWANEE, Ga. - The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference named the following players as Players of the Week for week 9:

JONATHAN PINQUE OF CENTRE COLLEGE has been selected the SCAC Football Offensive Player-of-the-Week for games played Saturday, October 31.

Pinque, a 5-11, 190 pound sophomore running back from Athens, Ala. ran for 179 yards on 23 carries (5.8 avg.) and scored two touchdowns in the Colonels’ 37-10 home win over Rhodes. It marked Pinque’s fourth 100-yard game of the season and was his second highest single-game rushing total of his career. He also moved into a tie for second place on Centre’s career rushing touchdown list with 21.


WILL GEISEN OF CENTRE COLLEGE, a 6-1, 226-pound junior linebacker from Edgewood, Ky., has been selected SCAC Football Co-Defensive Player-of-the-Week for games played Saturday, October 31.

Geisen tallied two tackles, broke up a pass and blocked two punts in a 37-10 win over Rhodes. Geisen also recovered a fumble and returned it 58 yards for a touchdown.

MILES SAGER OF MILLSAPS COLLEGE, a 6-0, 205-pound senior linebacker from Monroe, La., has been selected SCAC Football Co-Defensive Player-of-the-Week for games played Saturday, October 31.

Sager posted eight tackles (seven solo), forced a fumble, and blocked a pair of punts in the Majors’ 61-7 win at Sewanee. Sager’s first blocked punt went out of the back of the end zone for a safety.


MICHAEL GALATAS OF MILLSAPS COLLEGE, a 5-10, 175-pound junior kick returner/wide receiver from Lacombe, La., has been selected the SCAC Football Special Teams Player-of-the-Week for games played Saturday, October 31.

Galatas averaged 51 yards on a pair of kick returns against Sewanee, including a 75-yard return in the second quarter for a touchdown that broke a pair of Millsaps records. Galatas’ kick return for a score gave him 658 kick return yards this year, breaking All-American Chris Jackson's old mark of 568 return yards in 2006. The kick return for a score was also the third of his career, breaking Jesse McRight's record of two set from 1978-81. On the year, Galatas is averaging a career-best 26.3 yards-per-return with two scores.
