PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Carnegie Mellon University football team
will travel to Meadville, Pa. to play the Gators of Allegheny
College Saturday, September 8, at 1:00 p.m. on the turf of Frank B.
Fuhrer Field. It will mark the 50th contest between the two
schools.
Last season, Allegheny came into Pittsburgh and defeated the
Tartans 38-35 for its second straight victory in the Steel City.
The series continued in 2007 as each team has won on each
other's field, but the Tartans still lead the all-time series
29-18-2. The first meeting between the two schools was in 1906 when
then Carnegie Tech defeated Allegheny by the score of 5-0. The two
teams have combined for 19 shutouts, including a 0-0 tie in 1917.
The Tartans hold the shutout advantage with 14.
Carnegie Mellon is coming off a 28-21 victory at Grove City, while
Allegheny shutout Bethany last Saturday, 28-0.
