ADRIAN, Mich. - Eric Watt (Kentland, Ind./South Newton) and Thomas Wyman (Lake Station, Mich./Chippewa Hills) connected on a pair of second half touchdowns to lift Trine to a 24-16 victory over Adrian, Saturday in the MIAA football.
Wyman's receptions were decisive in the second half. The first, at the 4:37 mark of the third quarter, gave Trine a 17-7 lead. The other with 14:54 to play in regulation put the Thunder up at 24-13.
Wyman finished with three catches for 28 yards. Paul Curtis (Cassopolis,Mich./Ross Beatty) had five receptions for 67 yards.
Kent Biller (Nappanee, Ind./NorthWood) rushed 19 times for 57 yards. Ja Vontae Hence (Elkhart, Ind./Concord) rushed for 22 yards on six attempts, including a touchdown, he also had two catches for 41 yards.
Hence scored on a five-yard run in the second quarter to give Trine a 10-0 lead with 11:04 remaining before Adrian cut it to 10-7 just before halftime.
The Thunder gained 369 total yards, including 222 yards passing. Watt finished with 16-of-26 passing with two scores. He also ran six times for 25 yards.
The Thunder defense stifled the Bulldogs, limiting Adrian to minus five yards of total rushing. Aaron Selking (Decatur, Ind./Adams Central) had a part of 10 stops, including one sack. Ben Mohr had eight tackles, including four solo. Brock Reinig (Leo, Ind./Leo) had two sacks.
