FOOTBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

OFFENSIVE
The Mary Hardin-Baylor offensive line composed of senior Max Taylor (Lufkin, TX / LHS), sophomore Michael Coles (San Antonio, TX / Stevens HS), senior Dustin Davis (Harker Heights, TX / HHHS), senior Ryan Krause (Castroville, TX / Medina Valley HS) and junior Nate Menkin (Lago Vista, TX / LVHS) paved the way for 477 rushing yards and did not allow a sack in 31 passing attempts as the nationally-ranked Cru wrapped up the outright conference title and set a program scoring record in the progress with a 81-3 victory against Texas Lutheran. The unit, which was in the game as Quincy Daniels became the ASC's all-time leading rusher, also helped UMHB to eight rushing TDs and a conference-record 39 first downs.
CO-DEFENSIVE
Mississippi College junior linebacker Jeremy Bertrand (Abbeville, LA / Vermillion Catholic HS) had 14 tackles – eight solo and one for loss – one interception, one fumble recovery and a half sack during a 28-17 road loss to McMurry. Bertrand also broke up a pass.
McMurry junior linebacker Nick Hernandez (Rosenberg, TX / Foster HS) had 15 tackles – including 3.5 for a loss of 16 yards – and 2.5 sacks to fuel a 28-17 victory over Mississippi College. Hernandez's sacks totaled a loss of 13 yards and helped spearheaded a unit that allowed only 190 yards of total offense.
SPECIAL TEAMS
Mary Hardin-Baylor senior kicker Alan Munoz (Red Oak, TX / Ferris HS) hit a 27-yard field goal and went 10-for-10 on extra-point attempts to help the nationally-ranked Cru wrap up the outright conference title with an 81-3 win over Texas Lutheran. Munoz also tied an ASC career record of points scored by kicking with 267 set from 2003-06 by UMHB's Zach Newcomb.
OTHER TOP PERFORMANCES
OFFENSE: Hardin-Simmons QB Justin Feaster threw for 379 yards and five TDs in a loss to LC. . . . Louisiana College QB Ben McLaughlin threw for 303 yards and five TDs to fuel a victory over HSU. . . . East Texas Baptist QB Sed Harris ran for 159 yards and passed for 111 more with a combined three touchdowns to pace a win over Sul Ross State. . . . McMurry WR R.J. Long caught seven balls for 93 yards and two scores to give him a program-record 15 TDs on the season. . . . Mississippi College QB Austin Gray came off the bench and led the Choctaws to their first TD in a loss to McM.
DEFENSE: Louisiana College LB Peter Ford had 10 tackles and an interception to fuel a win over HSU. . . . Hardin-Simmons DE Hank Hornsby had eight tackles – including two for loss – and two pass break-ups in a loss to LC. . . . East Texas Baptist CB Victor Flores had six tackles, one interception and a pass break-up in a win over SRSU. . . . Mary Hardin-Baylor LB Javicz Jones made seven tackles and guided a unit that yielded only 28 rushing yards and 160 yards of total offense in a win over TLU. . . . Sul Ross State DE Julian Johnson made four tackles and returned an interception back for a touchdown in a loss to ETBU.
SPECIAL TEAMS: East Texas Baptist K Brett Peddicord hit field goals of 24 and 28 yards during a win over SRSU. . . . McMurry QB Landry Gentry punted twice for a total of 81 yards and neither was returned. . . . Louisiana College P John Babineaux averaged 49.5 yards over four booms during a win over HSU.
