Watt, Selking Garner MIAA Awards for the third time this season
ROYAL OAK, Mich. - Trine Seniors Eric Watt (Kentland, Ind./South Newton)
and Aaron Selking (Decatur, Ind./Adams Central) claimed Michigan
Intercollegiate Athletic Association player of the week awards for the
Saturday November 13.
Offensive Player of the Week
Watt, a senior from Kentland, Ind. (South Newton HS), completed 19 of 26
passes for 273 yards and four touchdowns Saturday to lead Trine to a 58-16
victory over Albion, a win that clinched the Thunder's third straight MIAA
championship. He added 45 yards rushing on 11 carries and punted twice for
a 52.5-yard average. Watt is being honored as Player of the Week for the
third time this season and seventh time in his career.
Defensive Player of the Week
Selking, a senior from Decatur, Ind. (Adams Central HS), had a hand in five of
the six turnovers Trine's defense forced in its win over Albion. He intercepted
three passes, forced two fumbles and recovered one of them, in addition to
making eight tackles. Selking is being honored as Player of the Week for the
third time this season and in his career.
The Thunder won their third-consecutive MIAA title and earned their
third-straight NCAA Division III playoff berth with the win over Albion. Trine
(10-0, 6-0 MIAA) will now face DePauw University (9-1) in the first round of
