Bryce Brown set a school record with 467 total yards against Maine Maritime
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Western New England College junior quarterback Bryce Brown (Guilford, CT) was named the recipient of the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston Division Gold Helmet Award as the Division II/III Player-of-the-Week in New England.
Brown had the best individual performance in the Golden Bears' 30-year history by accounting for 467 total yards and five touchdowns in a 66-41 victory over Maine Maritime in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III North Central Bowl Championship game last Saturday (Nov. 20).
Brown rushed for 307 yards (another new school mark) and two touchdowns, and completed 13-of-15 passes for 160 yards and three scores to earn the game's Most Outstanding Player Award.
A Management major, Brown will receive his award at the New England Football Writers' Awards and Captains Banquet on December 9 in Stoneham, Massachusetts.
Western New England College finished with a 9-2 record for its best mark ever in 30 years of NCAA Division III competition.
