PHILADELPHIA - Wesley College head football coach Mike Drass received the 2011 1st and Goal Award from the Philadelphia Eagles City High School All-Star Classic.
"We are truly honored to be recognized by the Philadelphia Eagles City High School All-Star Classic," said Drass. "The support the Eagles have given the this all-star game is tremendous."
Coach Drass received the award on May 16 as part of a banquet at Lincoln Financial Field.
The winner of the 1st and Goal Award is presented either a coach or team representative of collegiate or professional team whose dedication and hard work to make their team a success. Previous winners include Joe Paterno (Penn State), Andy Reid (Philadelphia Eagles), Andy Talley (Villanova), Dick Vermeil (Philadelphia Eagles), Joe Banner (Philadelphia Eagles).
"We are proud to have a number of all-stars who will be attending Wesley next fall," added Drass.
The Philadelphia Eagles City High School All-Star Classic will be played on May 21 at 2:00 PM at Lincoln Financial Field.
The Wolverines went 12-1 last season and were the top overall seed in the tournament. Wesley advanced to the national semifinals before bowing to the eventual national champions from Wisconsin-Whitewater. Over the past six seasons, the Wolverines have compiled a 70-9 mark, the third most wins in Division III. Wesley's 15 playoff victories in that time frame are also the third best in Division III.
