BEREA, OHIO-- Senior quarterback Chase Carris threw a 17-yard touchdown pass to senior wide receiver Matt White with 15 seconds left in the game as Capital University upset Baldwin-Wallace  College, 14-11, today (Saturday, September 24, 2011) in an Ohio Athletic Conference in the 34th Annual Lee Tressel Shrine Classic on Tressel Field in The George Finnie Stadium.

With its win, Capital improved to 2-1 and 2-0 in the OAC while B-W fell to 2-1 overall and 1-1 in the league.  B-W led 5-0 after one quarter, 11-0 at halftime and at the end of three periods.

Following a B-W fumble at the Capital five yard-line with 2:17 left in the game, the Crusaders traveled 95 yards in 13 plays with Carris hitting White with the winning TD toss. Carris then tossed a 2-point conversion throw to White to complete the comeback.

The Yellow Jackets opened the scoring at the 13:37 mark of the first quarter when sophomore wide rteceiver/ defensive back Kevin Johnson (Maple Heights/ Cleveland St. Ignatius) blocked a Capital punt and the ball rolled through the endzone for a safety and a 2-0 lead. The safety followed a nine-yard quarterback sack of Crusader sophomore QB Ryan Kremchek by B-W senior defensive end Derron Hamilton (Euclid).

B-W increased its lead to 5-0 at the 8:55 mark of the first period when senior placekicker Dave Cantu (Amherst/ Marion Steele) booted a 20-yard field goal. The score was set up by senior safety Corey Hildreth (Massillon/ Washington) who intercepted a Kremchek pass at the Capital 32 yard-line and returned it 27 yards to the CU 5.

The Jackets scored the only points of the second stanza when junior QB Ryan O'Rourke (Avon) threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to senior All-OAC tight end Aaron Hurd (Tiffin/ Columbuan), but B-W missed its PAT kick to lead 11-0 at the intermission. The scoring play capped a 9-play and 93-yard drive in 1:11.

The Crusaders closed the gap to 11-6 at the 12:04 mark of the final quarter when they traveled 90 yards in 12 plays in 4:25 when senior QB Chase Carris ran two yards to paydirt. Capital was unsuccessful in its two-point conversion pass as B-W senior All-OAC defensive back Matt Bowen (Tiffin/ Columbian) broke up the play.
