WHITTINGHAM, Vt. – The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) named its players of the week for October 3 and Gallaudet University took home two honors including one repeat honoree. Junior quarterback Gabriel Paulone (Fishers, Ind.) was named the Offensive Player of the Week while freshman Quentin Williams (Chesapeake, Va.) earned Co-Rookie of the Week honors for a second time this season as the pair helped GU rally down 21 points with 10 minutes left in the fourth quarter. The Bison rallied and forced overtime on the road against Anna Maria College (0-4, 0-2 ECFC) where GU eventually won 48-40 in the third overtime period.
Paulone orchestrated Gallaudet's miraculous comeback as the Bison (2-2, 1-0) trailed 34-13 with 10:51 left in the fourth quarter. Paulone passed for one touchdown and ran in the game-tying touchdown with 42 seconds left on a two-yard run. In overtime, he scored the game-winning touchdown as he ran in from 11 yards out in the third overtime period. He finished the game passing 11-of-18 for 114 yards and one touchdown while he ran the ball 11 times for 76 yards and two touchdowns.
Williams provided the fourth quarter spark the Bison needed as he ran Anna Maria's kickoff back 71 yards to the end zone, his second this season, to cut the AmCat lead to 34-20. Williams finished with a game-high 163 all-purpose yards as he ran the ball eight times for 69 yards, caught one pass for four yards and racked up 90 return yards. He accounted for two of the seven Bison touchdowns. He scored the game's first points on a 28-yard touchdown run midway through the first quarter. Williams was all over the field for the Bison as he even started the game kicking off for Gallaudet, getting the rare kickoff and kick return duty combination in the same game. Williams was previously named ECFC Rookie of the Week for his September 9 performance against Catholic University of America.
