THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - Eric Rogers of the Cal Lutheran football team was named the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Male Athlete of the Week for his performance against Whittier this past Saturday.
Official Release: SCIAC Male AOW
Rogers hauled in six catches for 206 yards and two touchdowns during the first half of a 56-0 home win over Whittier. All six of his receptions covered at least 20 yards and were either first downs or scores.
He became the first Kingsmen in the program's 50-plus year history to amass 200-plus receiving yards in a home game. Rogers is the only player in program history to surpass 200 yards receiving in a game, doing it twice over the past five games.
His first catch on Saturday of 51 yards moved both him and quarterback Jake Laudenslayer into the program's all-time top-10 career receiving yardage and passing yardage lists, respectively on the same play.
Rogers is the second member of Cal Lutheran football team to earn SCIAC Athlete of the Week honors in as many weeks. Laudenslayer received the honor the week prior for his efforts during a 28-24 comeback victory over Redlands.
Rogers leads the SCIAC with 501 receiving yards and five receiving touchdowns. He currently ranks 12th in Division III averaging over 125 receiving yards per game.
He and teammate Rian Younker of the Kingsmen defensive line were each named to the D3Football.com National Team of the Week. Of Younker's six total tackles (five solo) he led the team with 4.5 tackles for loss including 2.5 sacks.
