Five interceptions lead to 42-7 Macalester win over Trinity Bible

More news about: Macalester

Macalester picked off five passes, getting three interceptions from Jole Miller (Fy., Missouri Valley, Ia.) to close out the 2011 campaign with a 42-7 win over Trinity Bible (N.D.) in St. Paul.  The Scots finish with a 4-5 record.  Miller and Nate Sands (Sr., Madison, Wis. / East) returned interceptions for touchdowns and the Scots out-gained the Lions 403-183 in total yardage.

T. Joe Loiselle (Sr., Chippewa Falls, Wis.) ran 30 times for 123 yards to finish his career as Macalester's all-time rushing leader with 3,017 yards.  He wraps up the season with 940 rushing yards in nine games (104.4 per game).  Clark Bledsoe (Jr., Jacksonville, Fla. / Episcopal) went 18-for-25 passing for the Scots, throwing TD strikes to Mike Snavely (Sr., Minneapolis, Minn. / Southwest) and John Johnson (So., McKenzie, Tenn.).

The Scots didn't give up a score on defense and finish the year allowing only 20.6 points per game.  In addition to the interceptions from Miller and Sands, Macalester also received a pick from Spencer Robinson (Jr., Chattaroy, Wash. / Riverside).  Sands' touchdown return was from 47 yards out to put Mac up 14-0 and Miller's came on a 37-yard return which gave the home team a 28-0 halftime lead.  Macalester's top tackler on the day was Reid Callahan (So., Atlanta, Ga. / St. Pius X) with seven stops, including two for loss of yardage.  Sands added six tackles.

Macalester ran the ball for 212 yards, getting some big carries from Mason Kriegel (Fy., Danbury, Wis. / Webster) and Mike Adams (Jr., Chippewa Falls, Wis.).  Kriegel ran for 49 yards on four carries and Adams had 47 yards on five attempts to go along with a 23-yard punt return.

Mac's six touchdowns were scored by six players: Snavely, Sands, Johnson, Miller, Loiselle and Adams.  Auburn Jimenez (So., East Los Angeles, Calif. / St. John Bosco) was 6-for-6 on extra-point tries and finishes 26-for-27 on the season.

Trinity Bible scored its TD on a 35-yard Aaron Conner fumble recovery return, taking advantage of one of four Macalester lost fumbles on the day.  The Lions are 4-5 with one game remaining.
