Four Westminster (Mo.) Seniors Among UMAC Honor Winners

Fulton, Mo. - Four seniors are among the nine Westminster College football players who received all-conference recognition by the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference. The Blue Jay finished the season 8-2 overall and second in the league standings at 7-2.

Senior receiver Carl Givens (Chesterfield, Mo./Chaminade) was a  first-team selection. Givens, who earned all-conference recognition in each of his four seasons, led the conference in receptions a game (7.7) and caught 77 passes for 954 yards and 11 touchdowns this season. He finished his 39-game career with 232 receptions for 3504 yards and 42 scores.

Senior running back Zain Gower (Warrensburg, Mo./Warrensburg) joined Givens on the first-team. Gower, who missed the 2010 season with an injury and received a medical hardship, returned this year to rush 206 times for 969 yards and 11 touchdowns in 10 games. He led the league in all-purpose yards a game (151.7).

Senior defensive back Shane Harris (St. Louis, Mo./Collinsville, Ill.) earned first-team honors. Harris recorded four interceptions in nine games and recovered three fumbles. He returned an interception a school-record 100 yards in the 29-12 loss to conference champion University of St. Scholastica.

Senior defensive back Kelvin Williams (St. Louis, Mo./Gateway Tech.) was named to the all-conference second team. Williams, who collected all-conference certificates in his final three seasons, led the conference with five interceptions and he finished his 39-game career with 15 interceptions.
