Hanus Named Most Outstanding Junior in Division III Football

Salem, VA: The D3 Senior Classic Committee announced University of Dubuque's Wyatt Hanus (Jr., QB, Traer, Iowa/North Tama HS) was awarded the 2011 Joseph T. St.Lawrence Award presented by Crons, which signifies the most outstanding Junior in Division III football. 

Hanus put together a sparkling season, throwing for 3,490 yards and 44 touchdowns with only 8 ints. He led UD to an Iowa Conference title, an NCAA playoff berth and a 9-2 record, Dubuque's best record since 1979. Hanus set single season school records for passing yards (3,490), total offense (3,507), pass completions (265), and passing touchdowns (44). He also set school records for touchdowns in a game (7) against Buena Vista and completions in a game (33) versus Central and Buena Vista. His seven touchdowns verus Buena Vista also set an Iowa Conference record. In conference only action, Hanus threw for an IIAC record 35 touchdowns. For his work on the field, Hanus was named Iowa Conference Athlete of the Week (Week 4 and 8), Iowa Conference Football Offensive Player of the Week (Week 4 and 8), and Beyond Sports Network Performer of the Week (Week 4 and 8). Hanus was also named Capital One Academic All-Region VIII First Team and an Capital One Academic All-America Team member, one of four Spartans to achieve the honors.
