SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Western New England football team leaves for a nine-day visit to Italy on Saturday (March 17), which will feature an exhibition game with the Italian National Team on Saturday, March 24 in Rome.
There will be 81 individuals in the traveling party, including 53 players, along with the coaching staff and parents.
The group will visit Como, Florence, Milan, San Marino, the Tuscany region, and the Vatican.
While there, the Golden Bears will conduct a clinic in San Marino and tour several historical sites.
"We've got a good group of guys going and we're all excited to just keep playing more football," said Western New England coach Keith Emery.
Emery noted that the trip will help team unity and enhance both the players' football and college experience.
The Golden Bears are due to arrive back home on Monday, March 26.
Fans can follow the Golden Bears on their Facebook page.
Western New England enjoyed the best season in the program's 31-year history with a 10-2 record last fall.
The Golden Bears captured their first New England Football Conference (NEFC) title and made their inaugural appearance in the NCAA Division III Championship.
