ROYAL OAK, Mich. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Adrian wide receiver Justin Hemm, Adrian defensive back Charles Fleck and Trine strong safety Blaek Combs its Players of the Week in football for games played through November 3.
Offensive Player of the Week
Hemm, a senior from Piqua, Ohio (Piqua HS), caught 13 passes for 210 yards and two touchdowns in leading Adrian to a 20-19 overtime win over Albion that clinched the Bulldogs’ first outright MIAA championship in 29 years. He caught a 49-yard touchdown pass just before halftime, then caught an 8-yard scoring pass in overtime to put the Bulldogs ahead. Hemm is being honored as Player of the Week for the second straight week, the fourth time this season and fifth time in his career.
Defensive Player of the Week
Fleck, a sophomore from Lake Orion (Lake Orion HS), made 12 tackles, eight of them solo stops, and broke up a pass in the Bulldogs’ win over Albion. He is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time in his career.
Special Teams Player of the Week
Combs, a junior from Rushville, Ind. (Rushville HS), blocked a punt and recovered a bad snap on another punt attempt for a touchdown in Trine’s 49-21 victory over Olivet. He also made four tackles on defense. Combs is being honored as Player of the Week for the second time this season and third time in his career.
