ROYAL OAK, Mich. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Albion running back Darrin Williams, and Hope safeties Santino DiCesare and Kyle McRill its Players of the Week in football for games played through Oct. 13.
Offensive Player of the Week
Williams, a senior from Detroit (Martin Luther King HS), stepped into the starting lineup because of an injury, and responded with 249 yards rushing on 38 carries, including a 56-yard touchdown run, in a 17-14 win over Kalamazoo. He is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time in his career.
Defensive Player of the Week
DiCesare, a junior from Dorr (Wayland HS), made nine tackles, including one for a 17-yard loss, and intercepted two passes in Hope’s 49-14 win over Alma. He is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time this season and second time in his career.
Special Teams Player of the Week
McRill, a sophomore from Flint (Kearsley HS), set up two Hope touchdowns with a blocked punt and fumble recovery on a punt return in the Flying Dutchmen’s win over Alma. He made three tackles on kick coverage, two of them solo stops. He is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time in his career.
