BALTIMORE, MD – Johns Hopkins senior running back Jonathan Rigaud (Pembroke Pines, FL/Pembroke Pines) has been named to the d3football.com Team of the Week for his efforts in last Friday's 49-35 victory over Gettysburg. He is the first Johns Hopkins player to earn a spot on the team this season.
Rigaud enjoyed one of the finest games of his career against the Bullets as he rushed 21 times for a career-high 210 yards and one touchdown to fuel the victory. His 63-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter ignited a game-ending 21-0 run for the Blue Jays and his 10.0 yards per carry is the second best in school history by a running back with 20 or more carries in a game.
Rigaud currently leads the team in rushing with 821 yards on 124 carries and he has scored 13 touchdowns on the year. He ranks second in the Centennial Conference in rushing yards per game (117.3) and all-purpose yards per game (126.1), is tied for first in points per game (11.1) and overall touchdowns (13) and his 6.6 yards per rushing attempt leads the league as well.
His 13 rushing touchdowns this season rank as the third-highest single-season total in school history and he jumped to sixth in school history in career rushing yards (2,401) with his 210 yards against Gettysburg. He also ranks second in career rushing touchdowns (28) in Hopkins history.
The Blue Jays (7-0, 6-0 CC) will carry a 21-game regular-season winning streak into Saturday's game at Ursinus (5-2, 4-2). The winning streak is the sixth-longest active regular season winning streak in all divisions of college football (NCAA).
