CENTERVILLE, Mass. – For the second time this season, Wesley College's Sosthene Kapepula has been named the Eastern College Athletic Conference Football Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced by the league office Tuesday afternoon. The 2011 ECAC Defensive Rookie of the Year, Kapepula was honored with the same weekly award on September 18.
In fifth-ranked Wesley's, 47-0 victory over the Apprentice School on November 3, Kapepula led a Wolverine defense that allowed just 93 yards of total offense. A sophomore linebacker from Olney, Md., Kapepula recorded a team-high ten tackles, including three for a loss. He also forced a fumble and broke up a pass against the Builders.
Through nine games this season, Kapepula leads the Navy & White with 89 tackles and 7.5 tackles for loss to go with a pair of forced fumbles and fumble recoveries. He has also broken up six passes on the year.
Kapepula and the Wolverines are off next weekend and will await the announcement of their first round playoff opponent on Sunday, November 11 at 6 pm. Fans can watch the selection show live on NCAA.com as Wesley should advance to their eighth-straight NCAA Tournament.
