UW-Whitewater senior offensive lineman Mike Seefeld earned recognition on the College Sports Information Directors of America Division III Academic All-District team, announced November 8. Seefeld was named to the District 6 team.
Seefeld is majoring in special education and carries a 3.95 cumulative grade point average. Since transferring to UW-W he earned dean's list honors for fall 2011 and spring 2012. Seefeld earned the 2011 UW-W Athletics Academic Achievement Award, and was on the 2012 WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll.
On the field, Seefeld is a two-year starter for the Warhawks. He contributed to the WIAC's number one scoring and rushing offense in 2011, and started on the 2011 WIAC and NCAA III championship team. This year, he is part of the second-ranked rushing offense and third-ranked scoring offense in the WIAC. The Warhawks are averaging 4.1 yards per rushing attempt and are completing 57% of their passes.
CoSIDA's District 6 includes NCAA Division III schools in Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota and Michigan.
As a first team all-district pick, Seefeld is eligible for the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team.
