Garcia and Kinney Collect BSN All-America Accolades for Bulldog Football

More news about: Redlands

It was recently announced that senior linebacker Jordan Garcia (Carlsbad, CA) and senior guard Peter Kinney (Newport Beach, CA) were selected to represent the University of Redlands on the Beyond Sports Network (BSN) Division III Football All-America Teams.  Garcia earned Third-Team accolades, while Kinney garnered Honorable Mention.

Of the five Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) players selected to the All-America teams, Redlands is the only program that garnered multiple honorees.

Earning his inaugural All-America selection of his career, Garcia led the squad in total tackles (72) for the second consecutive season, 33 of which were of the solo variety.  For his outstanding efforts on the field, this team captain was voted the SCIAC Defensive Player of the Year and a All-West Region Second-Team recipient. Consistently forcing his way into opposing team's backfields, he tallied six tackles for a combined loss of 21 yards.  Additionally, Garcia showed his versatility by nabbing one interception and recovering two fumbles.

Also earning All-America honors for the first time, Kinney played a vital role in the Bulldogs' success on offense during the 2012 season.  A First-Team All-SCIAC selection and member of the All-West Region Second Team, this team captain led an offensive line that allowed just eight sacks on the season, including a conference-best mark of only two.  Moreover, Kinney proved to be a big reason why the Maroon and Gray rushing attack averaged nearly 250 yards per game in addition to scoring 24 touchdowns on the ground.
