Rose-Hulman Releases 2013 Football Schedule

More news about: Rose-Hulman

TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- The 2013 Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology football schedule features five home games and road trips to three Midwestern states.

Rose-Hulman opens the season at Kalamazoo College in Michigan on Saturday Sept. 7. The Fightin' Engineers and Hornets will square off for the fourth straight year, with Rose-Hulman looking to avenge a narrow 29-28 loss in last season's opener.

The home schedule opens with a matchup against Centre College on Sept. 14 at 7 p.m. in the annual "Rose-Hulman Night" game. The Engineers and Colonels will square off for the 27th time and the first time at Cook Stadium since 2004.

The HCAC schedule opens with the annual Homecoming Game featuring Defiance College on Sept. 21. Rose-Hulman defeated the Yellow Jackets in Ohio by a 33-20 margin last fall.

The Fightin' Engineers then hit the road for Manchester University on Sept. 28, before hosting Hanover College in the annual Hall of Fame Game on October 5. Rose-Hulman defeated Manchester 28-26, before falling in overtime at Hanover last season.

Rose-Hulman looks to avenge a narrow loss in the longest game in school history on Oct. 12, when the Fightin' Engineers head to Bluffton University. The Beavers overcame Rose-Hulman by a 37-34 count in three overtimes in 2012.

The team returns home for two Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference matchups on Oct. 26 and Nov. 2. The two-game homestand opens with a matchup against defending conference champion Franklin and also features the College of Mount St. Joseph. Rose-Hulman traveled to Ohio to top Mount St. Joseph in overtime last season.

The schedule closes with two familiar foes in road matchups on Nov. 9 and Nov. 16. Rose-Hulman opens the road trip at Anderson, then closes the season with the Battle of the Borders Broadsword Game at Earlham College.

Rose-Hulman finished 5-5 overall and placed fourth in the HCAC under second-year head coach Jeff Sokol last fall. The season marked a school record eighth consecutive year that the Fightin' Engineers have finished .500 or above in football.
