The St. Louis Rams have added Albright College wide receiver Scott Pillar as an undrafted free agent.
Pillar is now expected to attend training camp for an opportunity to compete for a spot on the Rams' NFL roster.
An AFCA Coaches All-American in 2012, one of just two Division III wide receivers to earn that honor, Pillar was also a BSN All-American in both 2011 and 2012. He was a two-time All-ECAC and first team All-MAC selection as well.
The wide receiver caught 80 balls for 1093 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2012. He also rushed for 161 yards, including a 94-yard score vs. FDU-Florham that ranks as the third-longest in school history.
Pillar was named the MAC Offensive Player of the Week three times in 10 games. He earned BSN National Offensive Player of the Week and D3football.com National Team of the Week honors following a 13-catch, 223-yard, 3-TD performance against #12 Widener (an eventual NCAA quarterfinalist).
In four seasons with the Lions, Pillar totaled 200 receptions, 3323 receiving yards and 35 TD catches, while helping the Red and White to an NCAA quarterfinal appearance in 2009 and an ECAC bowl game victory in 2012.
St. Louis went 7-8-1 in 2012. The Rams lost number-one receiver Danny Amendola in free agency this season to the New England Patriots, and used two draft picks on receivers Tavon Austin and Stedman Bailey (both out of West Virginia) this weekend.
