Manchester University Director of Athletics Rick Espeset and head football coach Shannon Griffith recently announced the hiring of Matt Johnston as linebackers coach and video coordinator and Aaron Baker as running backs coach and assistant strength and conditioning coordinator.

Johnston comes to MU after serving as running back and fullback coach at Kentucky Christian University since March 2013. Before going to KCU, Johnston had been a graduate assistant linebackers coach at William Penn University of Iowa; an offensive coordinator at William Fitzgerald High School of Michigan; and a running backs coach at Adrian College of Michigan, his alma mater. Johnston was a three-year letterman on the field for the Britons.

Baker had been KCU's head strength and conditioning coordinator since March 2013. He also served as strength and conditioning intern at Texas Christian University; running backs and special teams coach at Olivet College of Michigan; and head strength and conditioning coordinator and assistant coach at Louisburg College of Kentucky prior to his stint at Kentucky Christian. Baker earned all-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association honors as a wide receiver and was named the program's Offensive Player of the Year during his playing days at Albion College of Michigan.
