Titans Ranked 12th In Preseason Poll

Following the best year in program history, UW-Oshkosh stands 12th in the 2013 D3football.com preseason rankings.

Defending NCAA Division III champion Mount Union (Ohio) is ranked first, while the University of St. Thomas (Minn.) lists second, Mary Hardin-Baylor (Texas) third, Linfield College (Ore.) fourth and Wesley College (Del.) fifth.

UW-Whitewater holds the ninth position and UW-Platteville is ranked 11th. UW-Oshkosh will host the Warhawks on Oct. 26 and the Pioneers on Nov. 16.

Last season, UW-Oshkosh went 13-1, won the WIAC title and advanced to the NCAA Division III Final Four. The Titans set numerous program records, including a fourth-place finish in the national rankings.

UW-Oshkosh brings back 45 lettermen and 12-of-24 starters from last year. The offense will be led by All-American tailback Cole Myhra and All-WIAC receivers Zach Kasuboski and Caleb Voss. On defense, linebacker Ryan Stefaniak and lineman Alex Smith made the 2012 All-WIAC Team. Kicker Nate Ray also returns after making 13-of-15 field goals.

Central College (Iowa) is the site of the season opener on Sept. 7. The Titans topped the Dutch by scores of 47-28 and 31-28 the last two years. UW-Oshkosh is 29-3 in season openers since 1981.

The other nonconference games are at defending NAIA champion Marian University (Ind.) on Sept. 14 and a home contest with Alma College (Mich.) on Sept. 28. The Titans begin league play at UW-Stout on Oct. 5.

UW-Oshkosh just completed the best four-year run in school history, totaling 28 wins from 2009-12. Last year's conference championship was the team's first since 1976.
