DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) - Riding a record breaking performance from running back Jake Jensen , the St. Scholastica Football team handled Westminster 41-13 Saturday night at Malosky Stadium to win its fifth straight Homecoming game.

Jensen broke the career rushing record for CSS of 2,043 yards on a 12-yard rush early in the first quarter. Jensen would later cap the drive off with a 28-yard run that would result in the Saints first touchdown of the day.

Jensen would go on to finish with 124 yards and two touchdowns on the day, while fellow running back Chris Gassert finished with 94 yards and two touchdowns of his own.

Besides the dominant running game for the Saints, the defense also stepped up recording two interception touchdowns of their own. Close to the seven minute mark in the first quarter defensive back Mike LaValley picked off Westminster quarterback Joe Plassmeyer and returned the interception 48 yards for the score. He later capped off his impressive performance with another pick-6 early in the second quarter this time going a whopping 83 yards for the touchdown.

Once the Saints captured the momentum with their two defensive touchdowns they refused to give it back tallying up 231 yards on the ground in a dominant homecoming performance.

The second half of this contest was relatively quiet with just one touchdown being scored by each team.

It was another penalty -filled contest with the Saints tallying up a total of nine penalties for 75 yards, while Westminster also had nine penalties for 78 yards.
