ROYAL OAK, Mich. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Albion quarterback Dominic Bona, Alma linebacker Sam Young and Adrian placekicker/punter Dustin Salliotte its Players of the Week in football for games played through Oct. 13.
Offensive Player of the Week
Bona, a sophomore from Pinckney (Pinckney HS), completed 27 of 30 passes for 273 yards and four touchdowns in leading the Britons to a 41-27 victory over Trine. His TD passes covered 14, 25, 1 and 53 yards. Bona is being honored as Player of the Week for the second time this season and in his career.
Defensive Player of the Week
Young, a junior from Lowell (Lowell HS), made 10 tackles, including 3.5 tackles for loss and three quarterback sacks, in the Scots’ 41-6 loss to Adrian. He also had two quarterback hurries. Young is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time in his career.
Special Teams Player of the Week
Salliotte, a senior from Brownstown (Woodhaven HS), was a perfect 6-for-6 on extra points and averaged 37.7 yards on seven punts in the Bulldogs’ 41-6 win over Alma. He is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time this season and third time in his career.
