Union opened the scoring with a 23 yard touchdown pass to Nick Reali (Schenectady, NY) at 11:18, capping a seven play, 68 yard drive in 2:42. That was the only scoring of the first quarter. Union made it 14-0 when Franzese broke free for a 30 yard touchdown run just 57 seconds in the second quarter, just the second play of the drive. It was 21-0 with 7:52 left as Thomas ran in from two yards for the finish of a long drive. It took 10 plays and 65 yards with 5:01 off the clock.

On the ensuing drive, WPI started at their 25 and 13 plays later, Grills found McGillicuddy for a 13 yard touchdown, as this drive took 5:31. The point after was blocked and it remained 21-6 into the half.
