Stanek, Dansdill, Jones named CCIW Football Players of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – North Central's Spencer Stanek, Wheaton's Adam Dansdill and Illinois Wesleyan's Devonte Jones were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Football Players of the Week Monday.

Stanek, a senior quarterback from Mokena, Illinois and Lincoln-Way East High School (Economics/Finance major), was 15-of-16 passing for 221 yards and three touchdowns in leading the Cardinals to a 55-7 win over Millikin on Saturday. He broke his own school single-game record for completion percentage (.938) and also ran for his team-leading fifth rushing touchdown against the Big Blue.

Dansdill, a sophomore linebacker from Wheaton, Illinois and Wheaton-Warrenville South High School (Engineering major), totaled six tackles (five solo) and two tackles-for-loss during a 28-0 shutout at Carthage on Saturday. Dansdill and the Thunder defense held the Red Men to just eight rushing yards for the game. Carthage finished 2-of-13 on third down conversions.   

Jones, a senior running back from Bolingbrook, Illinois and Bolingbrook High School (History & Sociology major), had three kickoffs for 147 yards (49-yard average) in a 52-21 win over North Park on Saturday. He had a long kickoff return of 81 yards in the fourth quarter. Offensively, Jones rushed for 166 yards on 12 carries and two touchdowns.

During the 2012-13 academic year, the CCIW honored over 1,400 academic all-conference recipients, 15 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-Americans, 30 CoSIDA Academic All-District recipients, 68 all-Americans and one national championship team.
