CONWAY, Ark. -- Hendrix College outscored Berry College 14-3 in the second half en route to a 30-17 Southern Athletic Association win on Saturday. Box Score

Berry fell to 1-6 and 0-3 in the SAA. Hendrix improved to 3-3 and 1-2.

The Vikings continue to make steady progress. Not only were they leading early (7-0 and 14-9), but they were out-playing the Warriors. Despite trailing 16-14 at halftime, BC had the lead in first downs (9-7), rushing yards (73-44) and total yards (134-119).

Trevor Price scored the game's first TD on a one-yard run exactly halfway through the first period. Price was part of a Viking running attack, which produced 219 running yards on 47 carries--easily a program-record.

The Vikings helped Hendrix score early. Quarterback Adam Sandin was tackled in the end zone to cut the lead to 7-2. The Warriors capitalized on an interception to score a nine-yard drive for their first touchdown.

Trailing 9-7, the visitors put together perhaps its best drive of the season (12 plays for 78 yards). Sandin scored a two-yard plunge and after Campbell Harrison's PAT, BC held a 14-9 lead.

Sandin led BC in net-rushing yards (56) and was 5-16 for 142 yards, but he threw two interceptions. Backup Dale Jackson went 4-15 for 42 yards, but also threw two INTs.

"The guys played their hearts out today," said Head Coach Tony Kunczewski. "We had many opportunities to make plays, but came up a little short. Give Hendrix credit as they forced some critical turnovers on defense, and made some key plays on offense. We will continue to learn and grow as a team and be better for it down the road."

Chris Lilly had another impressive game for the blue and silver. He posted a game high 194 all-purpose yards. Lilly had 16 rushing yards, 122 receiving yards on three cathces and 56 yards on kick-returns. Lilly, however, had a crucial dropped pass on four down in HC territory when Berry led 7-2.

Berry's lone tally in the second half was a 25-yard field goal from Harrison, which cut the score to 23-17 with 12:27 remaining in the game.

On their next offensive possession, the home club went 75-yards on nine plays for the game's final scoring drive. Tanner Frye (25-38 for 229 yards, 3 TD, INT) connected on a six-yard strike to Dayton Winn for the final TD of the contest.

Overall, Hendrix edged Berry total yards, 389-362. Winn rushed 24 times for 126 yards and totaled 184 all-purpose yards.

The Vikings, however, had the edge  (30:49 to 29:11) in time of possession. On defense, BC's Matt Farinella had 13 tackles (seven solo) and Drew McCollum had an interception which he returned 24 yards.

The Vikings host Birmingham-Southern next Saturday. Game time is 1 p.m. at the Darlington School
