Senior Quarterback John Krafick Earns NEFC Offensive Player of the Week Laurels
BRIDGEWATER, Mass.--Western New England University senior quarterback John Krafick has been named the New England Football Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced late Saturday. This marks his first conference weekly award after placing on the honor roll numerous times.
The Golden Bears co-captain out of New Milford [Conn.] High School completed 65.6 percent of his 32 attempts for a season-high 304 yards yesterday afternoon to help Western New England to a 33-30 comeback win in double overtime over Union (N.Y.) in the first meeting between the teams. He accounted for three touchdowns, including a game-winning 25-yard pass to Andrew Walz, as he engineered the Golden Bears to overcoming three deficits of 7-0, 13-7 and 30-27.
The Dutchmen, who have made 10 NCAA Division III Championship appearances, are picked to finish second in the Liberty League standings.
This season, Krafick has completed 97 of his 157 passes (.618) for 1,204 yards with eight touchdowns.
Krafick is a sport management major.
In addition, WNE sophomore linebacker Nathan Fleming was tabbed to the NEFC honor roll for defense. He recorded a WNE-season-high 16 tackles (6 solo) to lead all players--one shy of his career high--including one-and-a-half tackles for loss (sack). Fleming majors in criminal justice.
