Respass named NEFC Offensive Player of the Week

More news about: Nichols

DUDLEY, Mass. – Nichols College sophomore Quillian Respass (Huntington, N.Y.) has been named the New England Football Conference (NEFC) Offensive Player of the Week.

Respass tallied 536 total yards (331 pass, 205 rush) and eight total touchdowns (four rush, four pass) in the Bison's 63-52 loss at Maine Maritime Saturday afternoon. He completed 19-of-27 pass attempts and rushed 27 times for an average of 7.6 ypc.

In the process, Respass tied the program record for most rushing touchdowns in one game, which was accomplished by Matt Fox against UMass Boston in 2000 and again by Anthony Smith against Bridgewater State in 2003.

"Quillian has been a great addition to our program," said Nichols third-year head coach Kevin Loney. "From the moment he walked in, he's played the game at a different speed. I expect big things as our offense continues to gel."

In his first season in Dudley, Respass had passed for 1,035 yards and 10 touchdowns and rushed for 420 yards and six TD's. He becomes the second Nichols' student-athlete to earn NEFC Offensive POW honors in 2013. Senior captain Dylan Rimsky (Denville, N.J.) received the same honor on September 8 after he established single-game program records for receptions (14) and receiving yards (290) in the Bison's 28-27 overtime win against Westfield State two days prior.

The Bison (1-6, 0-5 NEFC) travel to Curry on Saturday, November 9 for a 1 p.m. contest.
