Pacific's Devin Lagorio, Craig Bailey To Participate In Senior All-Star Games
QUICK LINKS: National Bowl Game | Tazon de Estrellas
FOREST GROVE – Two members of Pacific University's first football recruiting class are ending their Boxer careers by participating in Division III postseason all-star games.
Defensive tackle Devin Lagorio (Sr., Stockton, Calif.) has earned selection to the National Bowl Game, which will take place on Sun., Dec. 8, in Miami, Fla. Cornerback Craig Bailey (Sr., Fairfield, Calif.) will participate in the Tazon de Estrellas (Bowl of the Stars) on Sat., Dec. 21, in Monterrey, Mexico. The two are the only representatives from Northwest Conference schools in either game.
Lagorio will play on the National Bowl Game's Blue Nation team on one of two squads of players from Division II, Division III and NAIA schools. Lagorio, a Second Team All-Northwest Conference selection in 2013, was a four-year anchor for the defensive line, finishing sixth for the Boxers with 38 tackles with 2.5 sacks and eight tackles for loss. He led the Boxers and the NWC once again in blocked kicks, stopping three. Lagorio's season best effort came at Whitworth on Oct. 5, finishing with six tackles, three tackles for loss and a sack.
Bailey, meanwhile, is one of 51 seniors from 25 Division III schools that will play on the Stars & Stripes squad in the Tazon de Estrellas against Mexico's CONADEIP All-Stars. Bailey proved to be an incredibly dynamic cornerback all four years. He finished the season with 32 tackles and ranked sixth in the NWC with three interceptions. Bailey twice finished with six-tackle games in 2013 and had two interceptions in the Boxers' opener at Adrian on Sept. 6.
The National Bowl Game will take place at Alfonso Field on the campus of Florida International University. Now in its fourth year, the National Bowl Game selects 100 all-stars from all non Division I FBS levels of college football. The Tazon de Estrellas follows in the tradition of the Aztec Bowl and is in its fifth year. Players on the 2013 Stars & Stripes squad represent 25 Division III schools across the nation. The squad will play a team of collegiate all-stars from Mexico's CONADEIP and will play at the Estadio Tecnologico on the Tec de Monterrey campus in Monterrey, Mexico. Participants will also participate in a youth clinic and a community service project. More information on the Tazon de Estrellas can be found at globalfootball.com.
