Franklin Football Coach Mike Leonard Coaching in 2014 World University Championship

Franklin, Ind. - Franklin College Head Football Coach Mike Leonard will be a member of the coaching staff for the United States team that's competing in the 2014 World University Games American Football Championship from May 1-12 in Uppsala, Sweden.

This inaugural football event, organized by Athletes in Action, strives to witness the global growth of the sport. The American team will consist of collegiate athletes from throughout the country. The team will play games against college athletes from around the world.

Leonard completed his 11th season on the sidelines at Franklin this past fall, and has posted 84 coaching victories, including a 64-14 HCAC record. He has led the Grizzlies to the last four Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) titles and three straight second-round NCAA Division III playoff appearances. The team defeated Washington University-St. Louis 17-10 in a home playoff game in 2013.

Franklin won eight games during the 2013 season and finished ranked No. 20 in the D3football.com national poll.
