WILMINGTON, Ohio — Coming 32 yards shy of setting a school record for total offense in a game, Wilmington rolled to a 55-6 win against Franklin at Williams Stadium. The Quakers racked up 660 yards of offense and threatened to break the record of 691 yards, set against Urbana in 1994.

Wilmington, which is now averaging 47.2 points per game, improved to 2-0 in Heartland Conference and 5-0 overall for the first time since 1986. Despite a constant rainfall, WC sophomore quarterback Adam Ryan picked apart the Grizzlies' secondary. Ryan was 24-for-34 for 465 yards and four touchdowns. That brings his season totals to 113 completions in 176 attempts (64%) for 1,898 yards and 20 touchdowns.

Ryan threw seven passes each to Jon Cain and Dorian Glover. Cain took in those passes for 179 yards, while Glover racked up 141 yards on his catches. Both scored twice. After an Art Steele field goal in the first quarter, the Quakers scored their first TD when Chad Murphy rumbled in from five yards out. Murphy finished the game with 118 yards on 17 carries.

Ryan then alternated TD passes to Cain and Glover to put the Quakers up 36-0 with 6:35 left in the second quarter. The four scoring strikes went for 29, 39, 19 and 57 yards. The Quakers squeaked in one more touchdown before the half ended when Ryan ran one in from one yard out to make the halftime score 43-0.

The Quakers scored again in their first possession of the second half, with William Isaac running it in from 1 yard out, making it scores on eight consecutive drives. The WC offense finished the game with 192 rushing yards and 468 passing yards.
