Chicago (1-0) scored on its first three possessions, and four of its first five, en route to building a 27-3 halftime edge. Dunn hit Gutbrod from 14 yards out on the Maroons' opening possession, capping a nine-play, 80-yard drive. On Chicago's next possession, Dunn threw a 10-yard scoring strike to Gutbrod as the Maroons went up 14-0.
Lake Forest (0-1) scored its only points of the day on a 31-yard field goal by junior Pat Dunne late in the opening period.
Chicago scored a pair of touchdowns in the second quarter, the first on a 9-yard run by Dunn at the 11:46 mark and the second on a 9-yard pass play from Dunn to Gutbrod with just six seconds remaining in the first half.
Freshman tailback Brandon Halcott scored the Maroons' final touchdown on a 3-yard plunge with 2:10 left in the contest.
Dunn completed 16 of 25 passes for 217 yards and three touchdowns. Gutbrod finished the day with five receptions for 72 yards and the three scores. Sophomore tailback Aaron Carlock, in his first collegiate start, rushed for 139 yards on 18 carries. On the day, Chicago amassed 217 yards rushing and 217 yards through the air.
Sophomore running back Tom Starnicky gained 83 yards on 11 carries for Lake Forest.
