Sophomore quarterback Jeremy Neibert tossed a 37-yard strike to junior tight end Dan Frische only 24 seconds into the game moments after the Lions fumbled on their first play. Neibert completed 22 of 33 for 355 yards and three touchdowns. He found freshman receiver Rich Mittman twice for TDs and led an offense that piled up 518 total yards. Mittman also scored on a two-yard dive in the second quarter. Frische's TD was his first as a Grizzly.
Franklin dominated on both sides of the ball by balancing their potent passing attack with a surging running game and an inspired defense. Franklin was led on the ground by freshman running back Joliba Brogan with 68 yards and junior running back Brandon Gillard with 50. The Grizzlies held the ball for 10 minutes longer than MSJ (0-10, 0-6 HCAC) and forced eight Lion turnovers.
The receiving corps was led by senior wide receiver Eddie Tucker who had two catches for 96 yards in limited minutes and junior Andy Mamula who had four receptions for 81 yards. Sophomore Kevin Clark led all receivers with five catches for 36 yards (and had another 37-yard pass called back on a holding penalty).
The defense was led by the Franklin defensive backs who had five interceptions including Ki Yoon's 10-yard return for a touchdown to seal the game. Sophomore free safety Clint Rider had two picks for the Grizzlies and sophomore Eli Veach added his fifth interception of the season.
The Grizzlies snapped an overall four-game losing streak and also earned their first home victory since Sept. 30, 2000.
