September 16, 2017 Akins Runs for 218 Yards in Cortland's 31-30 Win vs. Hartwick CORTLAND, N.Y. - Johnnie Akins (Roosevelt) rushed for 218 yards and William Holscher (Commack) kicked what held up as the winning 25-yard field goal with six minutes, 14 seconds remaining as Cortland opened Empire 8 play with a 31-30 win over visiting Hartwick.
September 13, 2017 Cortland Game Notes vs. Hartwick (Sept. 16 at Cortland) Cortland begins Empire 8 play by hosting the Hartwick College Hawks on Homecoming and Hall of Fame Weekend. Both teams have opened the season with 1-1 records in non-league play.

September 2, 2017 Cortland Edges Augustana, 34-32, on Holscher Last-Minute Field Goal CORTLAND, N.Y. - Senior William Holscher (Commack) connected on a 31-yard field goal with 18 seconds remaining to lift Cortland past visiting Augustana College, 34-32, in the season opener for both teams. The Red Dragons were playing their first-ever game versus the Vikings, who made a two-day, 13-hour bus trip from Rock Island, Illinois for the non-league contest.
August 31, 2017 Cortland Game Notes vs. Augustana (Sept. 2 at Cortland) Cortland begins its 2017 season by hosting the Augustana College Vikings from Rock Island, Illinois in a non-league contest. The game is one of three non-league tests for the Red Dragons this fall along with road games at Framingham State (Sept. 9) and Ithaca (Nov. 11). Augustana is a member of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW), while Cortland begins its third season as an affiliate member of the Empire 8.
July 9, 2017 New York conferences start postseason bowl The Empire 8 and Liberty League won't be sending their top at-large teams to the ECAC postseason bowl games, rather, they'll square off in a New York State bowl game this November.
