QB Duke Greco, Jr., Delaware Valley
Greco tied a school record with five touchdown passes while also rushing
for a score in Delaware Valley's 55-42 win at Albright. Greco, who started
at safety the last two years before taking over the starting quarterback
role this year, tied Jim Smith's mark against Loch Haven back in 1968.
Greco threw scoring passes of 42, 41, 2, 75 and 56. His rushing touchdown
was from 2 yards out.
OL LT Jeff Faust, Sr.; LG Tom Worrilow, Jr.; C Rob
Schneider, So.; RG Larry Bender, So.; RT Bill Woodburn, Sr.; TE Mike Kelly,
Jr.; Widener
The offensive line helped Widener rack up a season-high 596 yards as Widener
won its conference-leading 14th Middle Atlantic Conference title with
a 46-14 win against Lebanon Valley. The Pioneer offensive line helped
the Pioneers smash several school records for quarterback Mike Granato
and receivers Jim Jones and Michael Coleman. The offensive line helped
Granato to pass for 435 yards in 22 attempts and five touchdowns and the
ground game rushed for 144 yards on 46 attempts.
RB Isaac Hernandez, Jr., Susquehanna
Hernandez ran 25 times for a career-high 123 yards and two touchdowns
as the Crusaders upset Lycoming 16-14 on Saturday. Hernandez scored on
runs of 4 and 2 yards in the third quarter to help Susquehanna overcome
a 14-3 halftime deficit and snap a three-game losing streak. It was the
first 100-yard game of Hernandez's career and his first two-touchdown
game as well.
RB Kevin Sinclair, Jr., Rowan
Sinclair was the game's leading rusher in a 45-14 victory over New Jersey
Athletic Conference opponent William Paterson. Sinclair had a 2-yard TD
carry in the fourth quarter which gave Rowan a 38-7 lead. His 72-yard
run in the second quarter set up a Profs' field goal. The 126 yards was
his season high on the ground.
RB Mylon Jones, Sr., Aurora
Mylon Jones had his third consecutive 100-yard game for Aurora in the
Spartans' 21-14 win against Concordia (Wis.). For the game Mylon had 123
yards on 29 carries. With the win Aurora will advance to the NCAA playoffs.
WR Jim Jones, Jr., Widener
Jim Jones had another stellar performance and continued to rewrite the
Widener record book Jones broke the school record he tied last week with
250 yards on 11 catches and tied the school record for touchdowns in a
game with three. He also returned two punts for 15 yards. Jones went over
100 yards in a game for the sixth time this season.
WR Jonathan Cain, Jr., Wilmington
Cain had 216 yards on 10 catches and two scores, posting his second 200-plus-yard
game of the year. He has 1,271 yards this season and is just 27 shy of
tying the WC single-season record of 1,298 set by Jason Tincher in 1994.
Defense DL B.J. Hammer, Sr., Wabash
Had a great day getting into the backfield registering 2½ sacks, and dropping
three players for losses of 19 yards.
DL Jeremy Sewell, Sr., Rose-Hulman
Sewell had seven tackles, four tackles for loss, two pass breakups and
one sack in Rose-Hulman's 10-0 loss to DePauw on Saturday. Sewell also
rushed 23 yards for a first down on a fourth-down fake punt, then later
completed a 23-yard pass to fellow defensive end David Berty on another
fake punt to keep a drive alive.
DL Dustin Collier, Sr., Moravian
Collier made six solo tackles with three for loss and two sacks (for minus-18
yards) in Moravian's 28-21 win at Wilkes. Collier's second sack put
the Colonels on the Wilkes 2-yard line and forced Wilkes to punt,
which was returned for a touchdown. Collier also had one fumble recovery
in the game, one of four turnovers Moravian forced.
LB Jamie Spielman, So., UW-Stout
Spielman had an interception and fumble recovery on consecutive series
in the second quarter of Stout's 14-13 win against UW-Whitewater.
Spielman was in on 11 tackles, three solo, and had two tackles for
losses of 8 yards.
LB Adam Corbett, Jr., Grove City
Recorded a career-high 19 tackles, including 11 solos, in the Wolverines'
14-10 win over visiting Carnegie Mellon. Helped secure the victory
with a bone-jarring pass breakup over the middle late in the fourth
quarter.
LB Jeff Bormes, Sr., Bethel
Bormes, filling in for an injured linebacker, led the Bethel defense with
15 total tackles (12 solo, 3 assists) as the Royals clinched their first-ever
MIAC championship. Included in his 15 tackles were three tackles for loss
(minus-6 yards), one sack (minus-1 yard), one recovered fumble, and one
interception.
LB Mark McDonough, Jr., Ithaca
Had 12 total tackles, and added 2 key defensive plays that were key plays
in the Bomber victory. McDonough's sack came on the Buffalo State's last
play as the Bengals ran a fourth-and-goal play from the Ithaca one-yard
line. McDonough sacked Buffalo State's quarterback and the Bombers ran
out the clock for the 27-20 win. His interception (his fourth in three
weeks) at midfield stopped the Bengals' final drive of the first half.
DB Andre Summers, Sr., Wesley
The senior defensive back had six tackles (five solo), one TFL, one forced
fumble, two pass breakups, one interception returned for 14 yards,
and a fumble recovery returned 96 yards for a Wolverine touchdown
in a win against Chowan. The win puts Wesley at 8-1.
DB Alex Ferrante, Sr., Rowan
Led the Profs' defense with nine total tackles and three pass breakups.
DB Roque Vela, Sr., McMurry
Vela put another solid effort at free safety for the Indians. He recorded
two interceptions. He also accounted for 11 solo tackles on the afternoon.
DB Patrick Fahey, Jr., Colby
Fahey finished with 11 tackles, three pass breakups, and two interceptions.
He intercepted a pass during a fake punt attempt and returned it 55 yards.
Special Teams P Kevin McCulley, Sr., UW-Stout
McCulley averaged 44.3 yards/punt (eight for 354 yds) to boost his season
average to 41.2 y/punt, but it was his placement of the punts that
gave Stout an advantage. McCulley placed five punts inside the 20,
and twice pooched the ball to the 3 to give Whitewater poor field position.
PK Tom Hillimeier, Jr., Kalamazoo
Hillimeier was 3-for-3 on field goals covering 34, 34 and 29 yards and
kicked 2-of-2 extra points in the Hornets' 27-23 loss to Albion. He also
averaged 42.0 yards on four punts with a long of 61 yards and two inside
the 20-yard line.
RET Terry Carter, Jr., Ferrum
Returned seven punts for 203 yards, and took two back for touchdowns,
one of those 73 yards. Was instrumental in the 36-7 win, keeping their
slim Pool B bid hopes alive.
