is selected by D3football.com staff and contributors from players nominated
by SIDs, coaches and conference offices. Nominations are due Mondays at
9 p.m. ET.
Offense
QB Blake Barmore, Sr., Trinity (Texas)
Barmore finished with a school- and SCAC-record 518 yards of total
offense in the game, including 476 yards passing. He completed 22 of 32
passes and threw two touchdowns, and also rushed for 42 yards and two
scores in the Tigers' 43-28 win over DePauw.
OL Matt Cohen,
Jeff Cosgrove, Zach Feldman, Josh Horowitz, Dan Kyle, Rochester
The Yellowjackets ran for 382 yards and five touchdowns, and threw for
78 yards and one score in a 43-27 win at Mount Ida. They held an eight
and a half minute edge in possession time, converted 11 of 15 third downs,
and scored on 7-of-8 red zone opportunities. The offensive line did not
allow a sack.
RB R.V. Carroll,
Jr., Oberlin
Carroll led the Yeomen to a 41-14 victory over Earlham, finishing
with 217 yards and four scores on 34 carries.
RB Matt McCormick,
Sr., Brockport State
McCormick ran for 160 yards and two touchdowns, including a 76-yard touchdown
run on the first play from scrimmage. He also had a 38-yard touchdown
reception and a 30-yard game-winning touchdown run in the 21-20 win against
Springfield.
WR Harrison Dull,
Jr., Chapman
Dull scored touchdowns on three consecutive drives in just under seven
minutes to turn a 20-10 deficit into a 31-20 lead and eventual 38-20 win
against Whittier. He finished with 10 receptions for 216 yards.
WR Brandon Copeland,
Sr., Bridgewater (Va.)
Copeland set two school records in Saturday's 76-28 victory over Guilford,
catching 12 passes and four touchdowns, and finishing the day with 165
receiving yards. He had eight receptions for 129 yards and three scores
in the first half alone.
WR Eric Hajnos,
Jr., Cortland State
Hajnos made three touchdown catches, all in the fourth quarter, as Cortland
rallied from a 20-9 deficit to defeat Western Connecticut State, 27-26.
His scores were of 22 yards (14:16 left), 5 yards (3:38 left, which put
Cortland up 21-20), and 6 yards (12.4 seconds left to put Cortland up
27-26).
Defense
DL Brian Burd, Sr., William Paterson
Burd dominated the offensive line of New Jersey, leading a defense that
gave up no first downs and only 19 yards in the first half. He finished
with 11 tackles (seven solo), 4.5 tackles for a loss, and two sacks.
DL Rishard Davis,
Sr., Huntingdon
Davis had seven tackles (four solo) and three sacks for a loss of 25 yards
against Faulkner. He also scored a touchdown for the second consecutive
week, taking a handoff and scoring from 1 yard out to open up the game
for Huntingdon.
DL Mike Czerwien,
Sr., Waynesburg
Czerwien set the single-season sack record with his 11th and 12th sacks
in the win against Bethany on Saturday. He finished the game with six
tackles (five solo), 3.5 tackles for a loss, and two pass breakups.
LB Joe Alexander,
So., McMurry
Alexander had two fumble recoveries, one that he took in for a 32-yard
score, his first career interception, and forced a fumble to accompany
six tackles (four solo) in McMurry's 34-24 win over Howard Payne.
LB Michael Spillman,
Fr., Hanover
Spillman had 21 tackles (nine solo), 1.5 tackles for a loss, and one pass
breakup in his second career start.
LB Rich Braley,
Jr., Mass-Dartmouth
Braley recorded 17 tackles (16 solo) and one sack in the Corsairs' 17-0
win over Salve Regina. The Mass-Dartmouth defense held their opponent
to 265 yards of offense and forced them into seven punts.
LB Tyler McSparin,
Sr., Washington U.
McSparin had a 37-yard interception return for a touchdown and a game-high
10 tackles (eight solo) in Washington University's 31-10 win against Chicago.
He also forced a fumble.
DB Shaun Irchirl,
Sr., Trinity (Texas)
Irchirl helped lead Trinity to a 43-28 win over DePauw, accounting for
five solo tackles and three turnovers. He forced a fumble and picked off
two passes in the red zone to end a pair of DePauw drives.
DB Damien Ward,
So., Bridgewater (Va.)
Ward led an Eagles defense that held Quakers quarterback Josh Vogelbach,
the nation's leading passer coming in, to just 85 yards passing on 9-of-21
attempts, while picking him off five times. Ward had two of the picks,
to go along with four assisted tackles and 0.5 tackle for a loss.
DB Sam Laes, So.,
Lawrence
Laes made several big plays during Lawrence’s 51-20 victory over
Knox. He finished with six tackles (five solo), an interception, and fumble
recovery. Laes also recorded his first career touchdown on a fake punt
when he caught a pass and broke several tackles for a 42-yard score.
DB Jonathan Brooks,
Jr., Millsaps
Brooks picked off two passes and scooped up a fumble and returned it 14
yards for a score in the Majors' 45-7 road win at Sewanee.
Special Teams
K Tony Smidl, So., UW-Platteville
Smidl made three field goals, including the game-winning 17-yard attempt
with three seconds remaining, leading UW-Platteville to a 37-34 victory
over then 18th-ranked UW-La Crosse. He made all four extra point attempts.
P Nathaniel Fitzsimmons,
Jr., Tri-State
In an upset win against Adrian, Fitzsimmons pinned the ball inside the
20-yard line three times and averaged over 40 yards a punt to help win
the field position battle.
ST Robert Hembrick,
Fr., Shenandoah
Hembrick made three special teams tackles and blocked two punts against
Greensboro, as the Hornets won their first game of the year 33-7. The
blocked punts were within four minutes of each other, as the first was
returned for a score to make it 14-0, while the second set up a TD four
plays later to make it 21-0.
AP Kyle Godfrey,
Sr., Redlands
Godfrey totaled 299 yards in Redlands' 53-23 win over Pomona-Pitzer. He
had 239 receiving yards, 66 kickoff return yards, and 18 punt return yards
on the day. |
